August marks a transition as Backyard Schoolhouse begins a new year mid-month. We’ll welcome new friends and say goodbye to those starting at a new school—we’ll miss you all and hope you visit and share updates from your new schools.

This month’s theme is farm animals. The Nevada County Fair (August 12th–16th) is a great chance for children to learn about pigs, sheep, cows, horses, chickens, rabbits, and more. Encourage your preschooler to ask 4H and FFA participants about the animals.

Important Dates:

• August 8^th School Picnic at Memorial Park 11am. We’ll hang out at the park, hand out diplomas for the kids graduating from Backyard Schoolhouse and have some yummy food. Backyard Schoolhouse will provide pizzas and there’s a sign-up list for other things to contribute to our picnic in the park.  Hope we see you there!
