Welcome to The Backyard Schoolhouse. My name is Teacher Katy, and I am a lifelong resident of Grass Valley. I have had the privilege of raising my children in this community, and they have attended the same Grass Valley schools that I did. Influenced by dedicated educators, coaches, and club leaders throughout my upbringing, I chose to pursue a career in teaching. The surrounding environment has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the community and nature, which shapes my approach to preschool education. My objective is to foster curiosity, learning, and growth during the formative stages of childhood development.

Curriculum

The Backyard Schoolhouse is a little granny house in my backyard that we have made into a preschool. We provide a loving environment in which children can build their foundation for kindergarten readiness.  The classroom is set for children to have fun and enjoy learning math, science, language arts, music, creative movement, art, and social-dramatic play. Each child is unique, and in this all-inclusive classroom, independent curiosity, discovery, and problem solving will allow individual growth and the development of a positive self-esteem.

Daily Schedule (Open Mon.- Thurs. 8am to 4:30pm & Fri. 8am to 1pm)
